Dancing With the Stars Pays Tribute to Patrick Swayze

Professional dancers paid homage to Patrick Swayze in this moving tribute on last night's Dancing With the Stars. The tribute actually made professional dancer Debi Mazar cry.

Wednesday's tribute by DWTS pros, including Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke, who performed Swayze's iconic Dirty Dancing finale number. The medley also included "She's Like the Wind" from the 1987 film.

"I'm so glad they did this. Patrick Swayze was such a strong, wonderful man and to see him have cancer and fight til the end is a real testament to human strength and the human spirit," she said. "I know he's dancing with Michael [Jackson] in heaven watching this.

Patrick Swayze Dies of Pancreatic Cancer

Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday. He was 57.

The late actor passed away "peacefully" with family at his side. Beating the odds, Patrick was diagnosed 20 months ago. Most pancreatic cancer patients are told they have a few months to live, and Patrick was no exception.

In December 2008, he gave a moving interview to Barbara Walters, which was his final interview. Patrick fought terminal illness with optimism, humility and grace.

Patrick Swayze's Projects Continue Despite Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis

With the initial shock of Patrick Swayze's cancer diagnosis still sinking in, a guarded optimism is mixing in with the good wishes being sent to the leading man.On Wednesday, the A&E cable network announced that the pilot Swayze, 55, shot in December, titled The Beast �" in it, he plays a seasoned yet unconventional FBI agent �" remains under consideration as a possible series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Should the series receive a green light, the star hopes to continue with it, said his rep, Annett Wolf, who added, "Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects."

The Dirty Dancing and Ghost star also has a movie set for release later this year, Powder Blue. Listed in the cast are Jessica Biel and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, who also serves as a producer of the film.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Swayze has pancreatic cancer, but, his rep said, according to his physician, the actor has a "very limited amount of disease and appears to be responding well to treatment."

The National Cancer Institute estimates that 2008 will bring 37,680 new cases of pancreatic cancer and 34,290 deaths in the United States. Statistics show that only five percent of patients survive beyond five years after being diagnosed.
