Michael Moore Talks to Pop on the Pop!

It is Michael Moore’s ability to tackle a topic such as Capitalism, and present his stance with humor, that has earned the Oscar winner fans around the world. He is one of the most controversial filmmakers of our time, and he likes it that way. You either love him or hate him, but no matter what side you’re on, he sparks curiosity, incites change, and never fails to entertain.

His critics attack the messenger and reject his message, which ironically works in his favor. Consequently, when it comes to Moore’s success, perhaps there really is no such thing as bad publicity. A man for the people by the people, if you forget that Moore didn’t come from privilege, his baseball hat and pair of jeans can’t help but to remind you.

In an age of “famous for being famous” celebrities, being able to interview Moore last week was a career highlight for me and remains my most fulfilling interview to date. Michael Moore is no nonsense, just like we want our favorite documentarian to be, and he discusses his newest movie “Capitalism: A Love Story” with Joy (aka Firecracker).

Editor's note: Michael and I could see each other on video, but the sound quality on my end wasn't the best, that's why I didn't answer Michael's question about high school, which hurts my soul. I also added annotations of what I said because Michael's voice is much clearer than mine.

Capitalism: A Love Story was released on DVD on March 9, 2010. My movie review is posted HERE.

I'd like to give a special thank you to Michael Moore, Joanna, Paul, Jennifer and Lara for making this all possible!!

Capitalism: A Love Story DVD Review

Two decades after Michael Moore’s first documentary “Roger & Me,” the “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 911” filmmaker took his camera crew to Wall Street in an attempt to edify those on Main Street.

In Capitalism: A Love Story, Moore questions why 1% of the country owns 95% of its wealth. An epidemic of foreclosures, skyrocketing unemployment rates, outrageously underpaid commercial pilots on food stamps - yes food stamps – and popular companies taking out “Dead Peasants Insurance” policies without its employee’s knowledge illustrate the widespread devastation resulting from legalized corporate greed.

The issues Moore chronicles in “A Love Story” are devastating, yet no real solutions are presented other than citizens taking it to the polls and voting. Still, Moore’s camera is a weapon and his storytelling remains captivating. “Capitalism” adds faces and families to the statistics, but it’s a man who is no longer able to give an interview that provides the most poignant footage.

In never before seen footage, a frail looking President Franklin D. Roosevelt addresses the nation, saying, “People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made…” Roosevelt proposed a “second bill of rights” for all. Unfortunately, Roosevelt passed away one year later. Although his dream has yet to be materialized, Roosevelt’s message is just as relevant today as it was in 1944.

Capitalism: A Love Story informs, entertains and inspires. It’s a gem filled with gems, but you’ll have to check it out for yourself to find out if you’ll fall in love with “A Love Story.”

New Moon Premiere: Pop on the Pop's Confessions From the Red Carpet

I can describe the New Moon premiere in one word: PANDEMONIUM! In fact, I am 100% certain that my ears will never be the same. Thousands of high-pitched, screeching, shrieking females busting out their vocal chords in unison for hours has changed my life forever.

New Moon obsessed fan from Hawaii

Now, I wasn't supposed to be at the New Moon premiere but those who know me in person know that I have a long history of getting in backstage at concerts and the like. It's all about faking confidence. There were THREE check-in points that I had no desire to attempt approaching. So I walked past all three and just looked a security guard in the eye and walked on over to the red carpet, per usual, and they bought it.

The premiere was held at the beautiful community of Westwood near UCLA. Streets were blocked off. Fans and cops aligned the street for blocks. I hadn't seen anything like it before.

Most of the celebrities and even Twilight cast members arrived in limousines or SUVs with tinted windows. But when Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart showed up - solo and in that order - they arrived in black cars with glass windows, therefore fans were able to spot them for blocks in advance and the screaming commenced and continued on end. In fact, it didn't matter if anyone famous exited a car or not, fans began screaming whenever a vehicle drove down the friggin' street.

Kellan Lutz, Dakota Fanning, Taylor, Robert and Kristen all personally greeted fans, but their personal interactions involved very few fans and interactions were brief. Fans had been camped out for up to five days, but how many people can say they were within a few feet of Patsy?

The New Moon premiere was like the second coming of Christ and I'm glad that I got to witness the hilarious hysteria, like the mother whose daughter wanted to leave but she wanted to stay. Ha! And the overall, tangible energy of the crowd was fun. I had no access to any of the stars because they're honestly like Christ himself - way too many handlers and snobs everywhere and psycho publicists.

I think it's great to get excited over something like Twilight if it brings you pleasure. I spoke with the lady in the top picture of this post and I wouldn't fly from Hawaii to L.A. only hoping to score some tickets to New Moon, but if she had fun doing it and has the money to do so (I hope she does) than great for her.

I did see all of the celebrities that were there: Jennifer Love Hewitt (with her great badonkadonk and looking very hot), Jamie Kennedy, 50 Cent, Jennie Garth, the New Moon cast, the Glee cast, etc. But I only have a few pictures below because the paparazzi were literally shoving me out the way and my camera sucks, therefore taking pictures became useless. I think a great time was had by all.

And to everyone checking out the movie tonight at midnight, I hope you love it. I'm going on Friday night.

Sherri Shepherd of the View Sent Me a Message

I was on Twitter the other day when Sherri posted this Tweet:

sherri first tweet

I then responded to her tweet with the following: Yep. And now you have $ to wear a new wig every single day of your life! You're addicted. I've never seen anything like it.

msg sherri

Sherri then sent me a personal direct message (to which I couldn't reply cause famous folks don't allow anyone to contact them directly) saying, No I'm not addicted... my hairstylist is

sherri

Uh, yeah right! This woman wears a different styled wig EVERY SINGLE DAY on The View. She has a very weird obsession.

If Sherri didn't want so much fake hair all over her head, she would tell her hairdresser no and she wouldn't pay someone who's going to make her unhappy by giving her a new wig every day. She's completely addicted, but her hair is part of the reason why I tune into the View. Me and my mom are always like, 'Look at Sherri's wig today!... I like it... It looks cheap... She's addicted!'

Will Packer, Producer of Beyonce's Obsessed Movie, Talks to Pop on the Pop!

Obsessed producer Will Packer is a man who gets what he wants. He wanted to produce a film with Beyonce, Ali Larter and Idris Elba, he got that. He wanted to be a successful producer, The Daily Variety has named him one of their "10 Producers to Watch," and he's quickly gone from being the guy that "couldn't get a call back" to the one that calls all the shots.

The magna cum laude Florida A&M University alum, with a Science degree in Electrical Engineering, has blazed his own path. Ditching engineering for the bigger picture, Will Packer co-founded Rainforest Films, a production company that pulls in top talent for mainstream flicks.

Jay-Z and Beyonce on Vacation

Packer took time out of his busy schedule to talk Beyonce, Sasha Fierce, Obsessed, making it in Hollywood, and what he's doing with Chris Brown, T.I., Paul Walker and Matt Dillon.

Obsessed opens today in theaters everywhere.

POTP: How would you describe Obsessed if you were to give it a personal synopsis.

WP: Obsessed is a really cool thriller. It follows this couple whose got this idyllic life. All is well in their world until the femme fatale shows up and wants everything that they have and will not stop until she gets it.

Are you ever able to get the cast members that you seek?

Oh ya! Ali, Beyonce and Idris were all our first choices for those roles, and we got all three. That doesn’t happen a lot, but when it does, you know that the film will be close to the vision that you have for it.

So, I have to ask some Beyonce questions. Did Sasha Fierce ever show up on the set?

The thing about this role was that there was a lot of physicality involved in it. There’s the cat fight to end all cat fights in this film! And Beyonce, because she is such a physical presence on stage, at her concerts, in her music videos, she brings that. That was no problem for her with the physicality of this role; she was ready for that and she brought it!

You don’t wanna get between Sasha Fierce and her man because when it came time for Beyonce to really come and bring that element out, it was really easy and comfortable for her because that’s just something she’s used to doing.

The physical aspect, the stunts, a lot of that stuff she did it on her own, she demanded to do it on her own. On take like 10 or 11, when everyone was tired and done for the day and all the actors, stunt doubles, even the crew, Beyonce was the one saying “No, no one more time! I can do it again. I can do it better. One more time!” She was hardcore like that.

Who was in Beyonce’s entourage?

It was her, the stylist and her mom. Every now and then Kelly Rowland would show up or Michelle Williams would show up. For the most part, it was [Beyonce] in her element and I think that’s how she likes it.

How were you able to raise the money for your first project?

It is called beggin, borrowin’ and stealin’. [My business partner and I] literally went out and got money from, like, 50 different sources. I’m only talking about raising like $20,000. There were some people who were like, ‘Here’s a check for $500, good luck.’ Then we’d have people that would let us borrow equipment. We didn’t even have the credit cards that we could max out at that time.

Did Beyonce express her excitement about taking on the challenging role of Sharon?

Eva Longoria Talks to Pop on the Pop!

eva longoria at podium

The Rally for Kids Scavenger Cup in support of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and PADRES Contra el Cancer brought Eva Longoria and friends out to the red carpet in L.A on Tuesday. The press conference for the Rally for Kids fundraiser revealed a very different side of the sexy Housewife.

Eva is not just a pretty face; she's a very giving actress and she has even established her own charity, Eva's Heroes which helps developmentally disabled children.

Ms. Longoria didn't become BFFs with POTP or even speak with us, but I wanted to keep my 'So and so talks to Pop on the Pop' titles going. Eva's publicist is a pit bull and she wouldn't allow us to speak to her. She only wanted Eva to talk to Extra TV, television shows and People and Us Weekly magazine. I had my charity-based questions all ready for TV Guide's Sexiest Female on T.V., but I was not permitted to ask any of 'em.

Its been claimed that Eva is 5'2, but she was in major heels and she still looked very vertically challeneged. I wouldn't be surprised if she was around 5'0. The camera is so deceiving; Eva is also so petite and I doubt she even weighs 100 pounds. She said that a Children's hospital visit seven years ago has prompted her to do her part to contribute.

Her publicist only allowed everyone (including Extra TV) to ask her about the charity and the charity event only! I really respect that about Ms. Longoria. She is that passionate about the causes she supports.

Eva said, "PADRES has been around for 20 years, I’ve been the spokesperson for five and I just love the work that they do to help families navigate through these horrible horrible time in their lives. I got all my friends here for the scavenger hunt because it’s actually one of the fun fundraising events. I created Eva’s Heroes. We have a poker tournament coming up in September.

We’ve got 33 celebrities lending their times and their names."

One reporter seemed to be interested in Eva's workouts and favorite makeup. An agitated Eva ended the interview when one reporter asked her about her workout. Eva repeated the question and gave her a look so that she would feel like an ass. Well done! But if you must know, Eva did tell someone else - also focused on the wrong topics - that she "mostly" diets and doesn't do much exercise.

Have a great weekend, all! We're working on a new site layout which may take weeks and you may notice that POTP looks a little different. We're changing it up, we're switching servers to eliminate errors and big things are ahead. I've gotta go right now cause it has been a bit stressful but that's what the weekends are for. :)

What My Record Label Exec Friend Told me About Rihanna Last Night

Last night I got off the phone with my friend who's a record industry executive and she told me some things about Rihanna that sheds new light.

Rihanna is a raging bitch and my friend's friends have witnessed Rihanna slapping the shit out of Chris Brown at various parties on several occasions! While at the crowded social functions that Rihanna wouldn't just start beating on Chris, the two would be seen arguing over something, Rihanna would shove him or hit him and they would storm out together on a regular basis! They are a volatile couple and Rihanna and Chris equally love their dysfunction.

Rihanna's wet

I remember that my record industry friend told me RiRi and Chris would get back together BEFORE they actually did. She says some men love women who fight and some women love it too. She reminded me that they're probably having incredible makeup sex right now and she thinks that they'll even get married.

She says that Rihanna needs a mature, older man, not 19-year-old Chris, but that she acts like an idiot and no older man would wanna put up with her immature ass. She says that Rihanna grew up around men, fighting with her male relatives. She's probably a fairly decent fighter and doesn't consider fighting with a man as out of the ordinary as we do.

Here I was thinking of Rihanna as such a pushover behind closed doors. Not true! Rihanna allegedly beats on Chris Brown all the time. In summary - they're poison for each other.

Just to reiterate, I am not on Chris' side. Domestic violence is cowardly, reprehensible, unforgivable and often untreatable behavior. BUT, Chris' relatives and various people have said that Rihanna had to do something to set Chris off because he's not an angry, violent person. My friend says Rihanna was probably arguing with him, slapping him and being a bitch, then thought it was cute to throw his keys out the window and that's how their fight began. There are definitely two sides to a story and Rihanna and Chris both need to properly treat their dysfunction, not together, but away from each other.

We're Giving Away Season 5 of The L Word on DVD, Bitches!!!! And a Hat Too, Bitches!

This is exciting! The L Word is one of the sexiest shows on television and features an eclectic cast of lesbians. It's in your face, it's funny, it's serious, it's sexual - it's the best lesbian television show on... well, television. The L Word pushes the envelope and contradicts stereotypes. When some think of a lesbian, Rosie O'Donnell or Samantha Ronson comes to mind. But with actresses like one of my favorites (Katherine Moenning), who plays Shane and whom I met, The L Word makes it clear that lesbians have various levels of beauty, hair length, size, shape and lifestyles.

The final season, and possibly the best season, of the L Word premieres this Sunday at 9 p.m. on Showtime! To get you all caught up, we're giving away season 5 of the L Word, which is filled with all the drama that the show is known for. I Met Katherine Moenning on Tuesday Night

Yes, she is one of my favorite female celebrities, she plays Shane on Showtime's The L Word. Dunno if you watch the show or know who I'm talking about, but now you will.

Katherine is my Samantha Ronson. I can't even begin to describe her sexy, maybe that's because it has no beginning nor end. Its presence and existence is immeasurable. Watch out, I'm deep!

Katherine's L Word character, Shane, is a total vixen. She enjoys sex, has lots of it, has a deep voice, the hottest punk hairstyles, and if you looked up 'swagger' in the dictionary, there would be a photo of Katherine Moenning beside it.

I was clubbing in Hollywood on Tuesday night for a gay and lesbian benefit show put on by non-profit organization Lifeworks when I was on the red carpet waiting for her. She peeked her head out and ran in the opposite direction. I was told the spotlight isn't her thing.

After the event I hung out with my friend and her crew. My friend's friend's friend is dating Katherine. A few people started to approach her. I waited my turn and waltzed in, said sumthin wicked and original as hell like, 'Hello, I'm ..." as we shook hands.

Katherine lit up and said, "Hi, I'm Kat!" I then said, 'I know you don't really like to ya know talk to people because it's annoying, but I just had to say hi. I love you so much. I'm like obsessed with the L Word. I like watch the DVDs and just sit there for like 3 days watching the whole thing. I just love you." She was very gracious, looked deep into my eyes the entire time as I spoke and then as she was thanking me. She wants me too.

I also told her how great she looks, all natural without makeup. Damn! We then said our thank yous and goodbyes. I've met some famous jerks, so it's always a pleasure to find out that the people you support are nice.

I would go into detail about who she's dating, but I won't. My friend that I met up with wanted my site's address - you know I don't give that out to people, but I was drinking - and since she's directly connected to Katherine, I don't think it's right for me to put all of Katherine's business out there: like what she was wearing, what she was drinking and who she's banging, like I'd like to.

It was good times. Sometimes I just love living in L.A. Y'all should come out and visit me, we can all be Sasha Fierce for one night and show the other tourists how it's done.
