Prince Harry has been fighting the Taliban on the frontline in Afghanistan, British army officials have confirmed.
The Prince, 23, a second lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry, has spent the last 10 weeks in the lawless Helmand province of the war-torn country. He arrived on Christmas Eve and into one of the most dangerous places in the fight against terror. He was soon on foot patrol, alongside elite and fearless Ghurka fighters.
On the eve of his departure, he told a pooled interview that it was his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, who told him that he had his marching order.
The Palace and the Ministry of Defence in the U.K. had hoped to keep the mission secret in order to safeguard his life and those of his fellow soldiers.
But some foreign outlets started reporting the story on Feb. 28 – including media in Australia and Germany – and the officials moved to confirm the news.
He has been serving in a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) in the Battlegroup Headquarters.

These are the shocking pictures that show Prince Harry inhaling vodka through his nose in a drinking game medical experts warn could KILL.
These pictures are taken from a video of Harry’s holiday in Namibia and will bring fresh shame on the boozed-up royal.
In the video, pals cheer loudly as Harry slugs a bottle cap of vodka, swills it around his mouth, spits it back into the cap and then snorts it up his nose. Seconds later, Harry—a 2nd Lieutenant in the Blue and Royals —closes his eyes and shakes his head as the alcohol, shooting straight into his bloodstream, takes effect.
Experts on drink abuse have warned that the game is potentially deadly.
Professor Ian Gilmore, president of the Royal College of Physicians, said: “There are all sorts of additives that could cause an allergic reaction which could damage the lungs, mucus membranes of the nose and trachea. It could kill.”
Frank Soodeen from Alcohol Concern added: “By by-passing the liver, you run the risk of inflaming the brain and possibly causing long-term damage. It’s a practice to be avoided at all costs. It’s very irresponsible.”
The video was shot as Harry enjoyed a four-day canoe trip with girlfriend Chelsy Davy and more than 20 pals on the Orange River in Namibia last November. The damaging footage will fuel speculation that 23-year-old Harry’s drinking is out of control. The prince was pictured falling over outside a Mayfair club in April and drunkenly partying with Canadian bar girls in June.
A royal source said of the vodka-snorting: “Everyone knows Harry likes a drink but this could have caused him serious damage.”
