Ted Kennedy passed away last night after a year long battle with brain cancer. Ted was the last surviving member of the Kennedy dynasty after his sister Eunice passed away earlier this summer.
Just a few days before he passed, Ted Kennedy who served as Senator of Massachusetts for 8 terms, requested his seat be filled by appointment instead of through election. Ted became the strong arm for the Democratic party and was praised for his liberal positions on education, health care, and immigration.
The family released this statement regarding his passing:
"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it's hard to imagine any of them without him."
