Knowles has always been connected to the arts, attending various performing arts schools and competing in singing and dancing competitions as a child.

In 2003, Beyonce released her debut solo album Dangerously in Love and it was a huge success. The first single, "Crazy in Love," featured a booty shake that strippers at strip clubs began mimicking and the subsequent singles also performed well on the charts. It became one of the most successful albums of that year, earned Ms. Knowles five Grammy Awards, and gave her industry cred as a solo artist.
In 2006 she released her second solo disc B'Day. On April 4, 2008 Beyonce and Jay-Z got married in an intimate ceremony at a hotel in New York City, later that year, in November 2008, I Am... Sasha Fierce was released.
The singer/actress has a clothing line named House of Dereon, two Golden Globe nominations, and has engaged in endorsements for Pepsi, Tommy Hilfiger and L'Oreal.
Beyonce has starred in various films including Austin Powers Goldmember, The Pink Panther, Dreamgirls and thriller Obsessed.
