Ellen DeGeneres is a stand-up comedian, television hostess and actress. The sarcastic host has picked up an astounding 11 Emmy Awards and has hosted the Academy Awards and Primetime Emmys.
Ellen has had two television sitcoms, Ellen, which ran from 1994 to 1998 and The Ellen Show from 2001 to 2002. She currently hosts The Ellen DeGeneres show. This is an egotistical bitch who really loves the sound of her own name!
In a 1997, Ellen came out publicly as a lesbian in an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Shortly afterwards, her television character Ellen Morgan also came out as a lesbian.
Ellen attended the University of New Orleans and majored in communications. After one semester, she left school to clerical work in a law firm. She also held various jobs include selling clothes at a retail store, waitressing, bartending and being a house painter.
She began performing stand-up comedy at small clubs and coffee houses and was the first female comedian to appear on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Ellen had a very public three year relationship with faux lesbian Anne Heche before moving on to a photographer she dated for three years before dumping her for the hottie that is Portia DeRossi. Ellen and Portia were married on August 16, 2008 at their home with 19 guests. The two vegans reside in Beverly Hills with three dogs and four cats.
