Jamie Foxx Bio

Jamie Foxx is an Academy award-winning actor, comedian and soulful singer. 

Jamie was abandoned when he was only seven months old and raised by his mother's adoptive parents, Estell and Mark Talley in Terrell, Texas, a racially segregated community at the time. Jamie also had a strict Baptist upbringing.

He began playing the piano at five when his grandmother made him. As a teenager, the talented musician and vocalist was a part-time pianist and choir leader in Terrell's New Hope Baptist Church.

Jamie wanted to play for the Dallas Cowboys and the young quarterback was recognized for passing more than 1,000 yards while in high school. Foxx received a scholarship to United States International University where he studied classical music and composition. 

In 1989 Jamie did his first comedy open mic night, he changed his name to Jamie Foxx so that he could have a gender-neutral stage name. It worked and he has been successful ever since.

Jamie also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 14, 2007. Jamie's career is on fire.
