Kate Middleton is famous for dating Prince William of Wales. Kate, a former model, caught William's eye when she was wearing lingerie on the runway. 

Middleton grew up in Berkshire and attended Marlborough College and the University of St. Andrews. In 2001, Kate and William met in school. Kate instantly became a media target and her lawyer complained of harassment in 2005.

In April 2007, William and Middleton broke up. Later that year, they got back together.

Kate is the oldest of three children. She has a younger sister and brother. Kate's mother was a flight attendant, her dad an airline officer for British Airways. In 1987, they founded their own company, Party Pieces, a mail order firm that supplies party supplies and decorations. Their business was so successful that they became self-made millionaires.

Although Kate's ancestry is reportedly "overwhelmingly English descent," she has a few distant Scottish and French ancestors.

She graduated with an art history degree and became engaged to Prince William in October of 2010, although it was reported to the media in November of the same year.
