Lil Kim is a multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning rapper and singer.

A successful artist, Kim has broken records. She is the first female rapper to have a #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit. Additionally, she is one of three rappers to have a #1 Billboard Hot 100 which was "Lady Marmalade," recorded with Christina Aguilera, Pink, & Mýa.

Kim was the sexually explicit, pint-sized rapper in the group Junior Mafia.

It wasn't until 1996 that she broke out as a solo artist with the release of her first record, Hard Core. Known for her nearly pornographic sexuality via lyrics and skimpy clothing, Kim has always been unapologetic about who she is as an artist.

As a teen, she lived with her friends and, occasionally, on the streets. Eventually, rapper Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls was impressed with Kim's talent and helped her to become a member of Junior M.A.F.I.A.

Her debut album Hard Core debuted at #11 on the pop charts. She followed her first album with Notorious K.I.M. and 2003's La Bella Mafia.

In 2005 Kim found herself in court, defending a perjury charge. In September of that year her new album The Naked Truth was released. Her single "Lighters Up" could be heard all over urban radio.

Lil Kim also starred in BET reality TV hit, Lil' Kim: Countdown to Lockdown. The documentary styled show first aired in March 2006 and became the most watched series debut in the network's history.

On July 3, 2006, Kim was released on good behavior after serving ten months of her 12-month sentence. Kim exited the prison in a silver Rolls-Royce. She released her most recent album Ms. G.O.A.T. in 2007 and she joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars in 2009.
