Madonna is an iconic recording artist, dancer, entrepreneur, dancer and attention whore exhibitionist.
Madonna was raised in a strict Roman Catholic household and I guess you can say she rebelled. After high school Madge attended the University of Michigan as a dance student for a brief period before dropping out to move to New York City in 1977.
Madonna became a regular at downtown gay discos and she began pursuing a singing career. Before she went solo, she made a date rape film called A Certain Sacrifice (1979). She later tried to halt the theatrical release of the film after her musical career began to flourish.
Madge released her self-titled debut album in 1983 and then produced three consecutive number-one studio albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s and four more since year 2000. WOW! Madonna is such a perfectionist and a workaholic. The controversial artist is known for pushing the envelope by exploring religious symbolism and sexual themes in her work.
In 1992 the Material Girl founded an entertainment company, Maverick, which published a book of photos named Sex. She also released a studio album Erotica and starred in Body of Evidence, an erotic themed flick. Her controversies hurt her commercial sales but she had a comeback in 1998 with Ray of Light which garnered critical acclaim.
She has acted in a very shocking 22 films. Most have failed but she won a Golden Globe Award for her role in the 1996 musical biopic Evita.
In 1996 Madonna gave birth to her mini-me daughter Lourdes Maria. Personal trainer Carlos Leon is the father. She was also married to Guy Ritchie for eight years and they have a son Rocco together. Madonna adopted Malawian David Banda in 2006, which caused allegations that her celebrity status allowed her to bypass the country's adoption laws. In 2009, her adoption request for 4-year-old orphan Mercy was rejected.
Madonna is the best-selling female rock artist of the twentieth century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States with 63 million certified albums.
