Oprah Winfrey Bio

Oprah is a billionaire, African American talk show host, producer, actress, magazine publisher, literary critic, actress and goddess.

Oprah's self-titled talk show, The Oprah Show, has picked up multiple awards, including Emmys and a People's Choice award and has become the highest-rated program of its kind in history.

THe 5'7 plus-sized host is charismatic, hilarious, intelligent and down to earth. It's not hard to wonder why Lady O has been so successful.

She has been ranked the richest  of the 20th century, the most philanthropic African American of all time, and was once the world's only black billionaire. Oprah grew up dirt poor in rural Mississippi to a unwed teenage mother.

Oprah has had a difficult childhood. She was raped when she was only nine years old and gave birth to a son when she was 14, who died in infancy.

Oprah was then sent to live with a man who she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee where she got a job in radio.

At the age of 19, Lady O began co-anchoring the local evening news. Her emotional ad-libbing earned her a daytime talk show in Chicago before launching her own production company and becoming internationally syndicated.

Oprah has publicly supported Barack Obama since 2006 and is credited with delivering over a million votes in the close 2008 Democratic primary race.
