Ryan Phillippe is an American actor who is perhaps better known for his high-profile romances than for his impressive body of work. Ryan reached full-fledged heartthrob status in the late 90s with leading roles in such teen-themed films as I Know What You Did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions. In the years that followed, however, he would receive far more media attention for his personal life than for his films.

Ryan married actress Reese Witherspoon in 1999 and their often stormy relationship served as tabloid fodder for nearly a decade. The couple had two children together before their messy divorce in 2006. Since then Ryan has been romantically linked to Australian actress Abbie Cornish and, most recently, rising star Amanda Seyfried.

Though he's suffered some career setbacks in recent years, Ryan continues to work steadily, with two films set for release in 2011, and he remains a highly-respected and promising young actor.
