It appears that it was an open handed smack on the butt, it does not look like she punched her. I have smacked my children on the butt before. I mean really, how many out there 25 years old and up got spankings from out parents when we were young? I would bet there are many.
I do believe there is a fine line between discipline and child abuse. But there are times when a time out or taking away a privelige such as tv, phone or game unit etc is not enough. Don't misunderstand, I DO NOT condone beating or abusing a child. But look at the kids today, a majority of them are disrespectful to young and old, rude and feel that they should have everything handed to them. We as parents are half afraid to spank out children for fear that DCFS will take them from us. But the children who are truly abused are left with the abusive parents. What a world we live in.....

there are other ways to punish children. if she cant control her temper she needs to walk away from the situation not take her anger out in that manner...if a time out doesnt work and talking to them doesnt work what makes her think hitting is going to work any better? lots of children are disrespectful these days but thats thanks to alot of lazy parents whom did not teach their children manners right off that bat. ive seen the difference in children whos parents would rather sit back and relax and have a drink as opposed to those who teach their kids right from wrong and truely put their children first.

Too Melissa I don't think you have any children..or if you do you might have 1 child. the way you wrote your message reminds me of me before I had 3 kids... There is a major difference between discipline and abuse.
