Yesterday, Nicki Minaj has reportedly already inked a deal to become the newest judge on American Idol. Nicki's people are now claiming that report is false, but producers are said to be still considering her for the job. Unfortunately for Nicki, it seems one of her potential co-hosts is throwing a big, diva-sized monkey wrench in the plan.

TMZ reports that Mariah Carey was so angry about possibly sharing judging duties with Nicki that she hung up on Idol producers during a heated conversation. Carey, of course, recently received a massive pay day from Idol and is seemingly already making waves despite having not yet taped a second of footage.
The Intrawebs are abuzz with excitement over Nicki taking a seat at the judges' table alongside her alter-ego, Roman Zolanski, but if you ask me, Mariah has nothing to worry about for two reasons:
1.) Nicki is a rapper. She can't sing for sh!t and unlike Randy Jackson, she's a relative newbie in the music biz. Even in the age of Howard Stern and Demi Lovato she would have less credibility than any talent competition judge on TV.
2.) This is the issue everyone seems to be tip-toeing around: if Randy Jackson decides to stay with the show, Nicki is out because we'll never see an all-black Idol panel. Most of the winners of this show go on to careers consisting of Midwestern mall tours and singin' 'bout Jesus on the country station that old lady in the cubicle next to you always listens to.
What I'm saying is, a lot of folks who watch Idol would be less likely to tune in if the show featured an all "urban" judges panel. Sadly, if you lose the hicks, you lose the ratings. It'd be like if Obama picked Jesse Jackson as his running mate. Sorry kids (and Nicki), that's unfortunately still the America we live in.
