Benjamin Millepied was working as a ballet dancer and choreographer when he knocked up Natalie Portman and quit working. They now have a 20-month-old son Aleph and they're married, so the plan worked. Benjamin is from France and he got hired to be the director of dance at the Paris Opera Ballet. Natalie and her hubby will be moving to Paree!
The New York Times, which ran a great piece on Millepied being a diva, now reports that Ben's job begins in September 2014.
“I was surprised, but I felt very quickly that the artistic dialogue between us was an exciting one,” Millepied told the Times of Stéphane Lissner, who will become the Opera’s new artistic director in 2015.
“After a while I did feel there was a really good chance I might get the position. Which made my head spin.”
I'm happy for them! Natalie is clearly into foreign cultures. Her son will be at least bi-lingual, tri-lingual if she teaches him Hebrew, for sure. Natalie's an LA native. She's familiar with the East and West Coast and I could see her being very happy in France. Furthermore, it's not like she won't be working in the States for film roles. I
'm also happy for Ben. He has his own thing going on and he has no resent to be jealous of, or resent his wife, like Jason Hoppy did?
