Taylor Swift Guest Stars on New Girl

Taylor Swift will be appearing on New Girl! The last time Taylor acted was during a 2009 episode of CSI. She has also hosted and performed on Saturday Night Live, and the movies Valentine’s Day and The Lorax.

Harry Styles‘ ex will be playing an “important guest” at the wedding of Shivrang and Cece, played by Hannah Simone. WTF! Cece’s getting married?!?! Taylor’s appearance will take place on the show’s season finale, which airs on May 14th.

Woah. I gave up on New Girl but I caught a recent episode and it was funny again. I hope the script writers have fun with Taylor and make her character over the top.

Max Greenfield Tells Pop on the Pop: Schmidt’s Sexy Boss Returns!

Schmidt s a fan favorite on New Girl, even if Jess and Schmidt's new neighbors don't like him. Max Greenfield shirtless scenes go down on a regular basis on the popular show and It seems that Max doesn't mind, or at least he didn't tell us he does. We asked Max about what's up with him and Cece, played by Hannah Simone, and more importantly, when is he going to get it on with his sexy boss that he confessed his lust for on season 1!

POTP: What should guests bring to a penis party?

Max: They should bring fire, and that's what I did. Schmidt brings fire to the event, both literally and figuratively and it gets crazy.

POTP: What did you think when you saw that in the script that you'd be having the penis party on the first episode?

Max: I kind of new that it would be happening. Liz Meriwether had mentioned it to me. I thought it was really funny and it was exciting. It was good. I'm glad I'm not still in that [penis cast]. Can you imagine a full year in that? You'd turn into a depressive drunk.

POTP: Now that Schmidt is single do you think that he's happier without Cece?

Max: I think he likes the ability that he can go play the field, but then he knows that here's this girl that he has feelings for.

POTP: Schmidt and his boss had some sexual tension but it seems that story was dropped.

Max: I think she's coming back this year so we'll see what happens. I haven't read the script yet but I know she's coming back.

POTP: Have you been shirtless in any episodes so far this season?

Max: You know it.

POTP: Do we have to wait until the second or third episode or is that the first episode?

Max: First scene, first episode.

POTP: Are you ever able to improv during the table reads?

Max: There are moments when it makes sense during the filming day and it gets opened up a little bit, sure. But mostly we stick to the script. The scripts are great and we kind of want to just do the best we can with what's given to you. If we nail it very quickly it's like "Okay, let's open 'em up."

New Girl Recap: New Neighbors and Prank Sinatra

Tuesday night's episode of New Girl is either deemed "hilarious" or "the worst ever!" by the show's fans. It's like Jess is going through a quarter life crisis these days. One minute she's having one night stands, the next she's watching TGIF marathons and perfecting '80s catchphrases.

A group of four hipster millennial neighbors, who share sex partners, move into the building and take an instant liking to Jess. Schmidt, a former fat kid, yearns to be accepted by the group of trendy 20-something losers and he tries so hard to get them to like him, it naturally makes them hate him more. While some people thought that Jess was really annoying this week, I thought she was hilarious! You either love annoying dorky Jess or you hate her, I'm in the former category.

Meanwhile, it was pretty sad to watch Schmidt become the target of Nick, aka Prank Sinatra, in the same episode that he's rejected by the cool kids. It wasn't funny; it was borderline cruel.

Back at his sports job, Winston gets promoted, scoring his own sports radio show that airs during the "primetime for truckers," aka middle of the night.

Fans are left wondering why Jess didn't stand up for Schmidt while I'm left wondering where Cece, played by Hannah Simone, went and why Winston's life keeps improving while everyone else's sucks.

Schmidt only feels better about himself when the new hipster neighbors confess that they don't like him because he's an "asshead," not because he's old.

Underneath all the flamboyance, Schnmidt is insecure and it's obvious that until Jess gets another teaching job, she'll continue to find more random, occasionally interesting ways to pass time now that she's "off the grid."

New Girl Recap: Nick is an Emotional Fluffer, Tugg Romney Appears

Nick and Jess want to sex each other and they both finally admitted it on last night's episode of New Girl. They clearly aren't ready to smash yet and it's fun to watch their friendship evolve into something more meaningful.

But before Jess and Nick make some confessions, Jess says that Sam booty called her. She claims to be "bad at casual sex," but also says "I deserve to have a shorty on the side."

Schmidt's obsession with Kanye West has caused him to wear an ugly belt that he says Yeezy wore. He believes that becoming BFFs with Kim Kardashian's boyfriend "is the best way to gain social strata."

Jess brings a thermus full of white wine to her fancy restaurant date with Nick. They're having a great time but she has to dip so she can hook up with Sam.

Schmidt wants to get into a club, while wearing his Kanye belt, but he's looking like an idiot and the bouncers won't grant him access until he says that he's Tagg Romney! Max Greenfield kind of does resemble Tagg (if you don't follow politics closely), so he gets into the club by pretending to be a Romney brother. Once inside the club, Schmidt tells a girl that he's "Tugg Romney."

Jess breaks her dresser "during intercourse" with Sam and it's still a bit confusing that the once awkward-about-sex Jess is now banging like a porn star, broken furniture and all.

Winston tells Nick that he's Jess' "emotional fluffer" and he's her boyfriend without the sex. Nick has an aha moment, but later decides that he's free to define the parameters of his friendship with Jess. He'll make her a new dresser from Ikea if he wants to.

Jess proclaims "I had so much sex last night!" but she's a nerd and I'm not buying the Jess The Nympho storyline the producers are selling.

Jess and Sam go on a fast food date only to end up in bed together for more sex. Meanwhile Jess tells Nick that she's "old fashioned below the belt" and now I'm officially confused.

Jess is embracing her newfound sexuality instead of looking for a job and seeking out a real romantic relationship. Winston inexplicably hasn't had sex with his girlfriend in three weeks. Cece hangs around the apartment for some reason, and Schmidt gets found out. The three girls who want to hook up with him because they think he's Tugg Romney stop talking to him once they discover he's a fraud.

Once again Schmidt steals the show and deserves his own spin-off. We finally get a closer glimpse of why Schmidt is so high strung – his father left him when he was 8 years old. Cece is there for Schmidt when he talks about his disappointing upbringing, leaving fans wanting to see Cece and Schmidt together more than Nick and Jess, who seemed more casual together than in heat for each other this week.

Jake Johnson Lost Weight for New Girl Season 2, Tells Pop on the Pop Why

New Girl season 2 is back with a bang, literally! Jake Johnson spoke to me about the fate of Nick and Jess in part 1 of my exclusive. During last Tuesday's season premiere, Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, is "off the grid," which is just code for 'I'm a slut now!,' and Schmidt's penis is no longer broken so he's free to bang anyone. Nick is back in the loft after going back to his cheating ex-girlfriend and then breaking up with her again. Naturally I had to ask Jake Johnson about what's in store for Nick, what it was like to host the Do Something Awards, and his impressive weightloss!

POTP: Is Nick going to have any dates or girlfriends?

Jake: You know, I'm not sure but I don't think Nick's quite ready for a serious one unless somebody comes in and is the right fit.

POTP: So is he crying? Is he going to be doing crying over the ex-girlfriend [laughs]?

Jake: Oh man, I hope not [laughs]! I hope he stops crying. Eventually this man has to stop crying!

POTP: Is Nick happy that he moved back in?

Jake: Yeah, I think he really loves his friends. I don't think Caroline is the right lady for him and I think he kind of realized that. Caroline is starting to get in the past a little bit.

POTP: So you hosted the Do Something Awards this year, are you interested in doing any more hosting in the future?

Jake: No, [laughs], not really. But that was a unique opportunity because it was for charity, which is such an awesome thing and to honor people who have actually done really good things is a pretty cool thing. And it was fun! It was really fun to do it with Max and Lamorne, but I don't think there's a lot of that in my future, no.

POTP: I'm sure it's nerve racking.

Jake: It really was. Yes.

POTP: I notice that you no longer have the little pouch where you keep your extra cookies! I notice that you've lost some weight, so what have you done?

 

Jake: Just more exercise and less drinking alcohol. And being on TV where you gotta constantly watch Greenfield take his shirt off. And the truth of the matter is, every once in a while my character has his clothes off and it's not up to me when it happens. So I can't be goofing off too much and getting too out of shape and then climbing around in a shower scene! And Meriwether doesn'' really ask. I'll get a scene where I'm like, 'It says Nick is singing and dancing around in the shower. I'm like I, as a man, don't feel comfortable doing that!" and then she'll go, "Great, I'll see you Monday!" and I'm singing and dancing in the shower! I just had to pay a little bit more attention, but there's still a pouch there.

POTP: No no no.

Jake: Yeah, it's still there.

POTP: Do you know how much you lost? Do you have a goal because you're saying there's still a pouch and I see no pouch.

Jake: I don't have a solid line.

POTP: But still staying healthy, right?

Jake: Right.

POTP: You look great.

Jake: Thank you so much.

New Girl airs tonight at 9pm on FOX.

New Girl Season 2 Premiere Review: Jess/ Katie Gets Laid, Schmidt Doesn’t

In case you were wondering why New Girl was nominated for 2 Emmy Awards, last night's episodes provided your answer. New Girl season 2 premiered on Fox's new Tuesday last night and the first episode was all about Schmidt's "Rebranding party" to celebrate that his broken penis has been healed and Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, getting laid off.

Hannah Simone's character Cece has a new boyfriend that Schmidt hates, and the first episode was clearly written to prep us for the fun that was in store on episode 2, which aired at 9p.m., so let's skip to that one.

Jess is "off the grid" as she gets herself drunk at 11a.m. Nick's bar, still in misery over losing her job as a teacher. Unemployed Jess is a good time.

 

Winston's sister, a professional basketball player, is in town and Schmidt makes it his mission to have sex with her. Winston's mother hates Schmidt and it's all pretty hilarious.

Back at the bar, Nick meets Old Nick, a white-haired man who has the same name, wears the same hoodie and gives Young Nick some words of wisdom about what's in store – he will hurt Jess sometime in the future. Okaaaaaay. And that's why I love the show. Only New Girl could pull this off.

Jess meets a hot guy who thinks that she's a girl named Katie from CupidMatch so she takes full advantage by sleeping with him, all the while meeting another cute guy that she actually likes and a chubby guy who is "in love with" her. This all leads up to a satisfyingly hilarious bathroom scene at the bar.

Jess' CupidMatch guy shows up to her apartment and they proceed to hookup because Katie is a slut, but seriously, Jess is a slut too.

Nick is there for Jess throughout both season 2 premiere episodes, and Schmidt fails at hooking up with Winston's sister and looks like an idiot douche while doing so.

Jake Johnson of New Girl Tells Pop on the Pop “Nick Knows He Has a Crush on Jess”

Jake Johnson says that Jess and Nick's underlying chemistry will be examined in season 2 of New Girl! I met up with Jake on the red carpet at Fox's new Tuesday event in Los Angeles. Based upon what Jake had to say about Nick and Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, it sounds like Liz Meriwether may be inching closer to creating those racy online scenes she spoke about.

POTP: Now that Nick's back in the apartment, do you think he's getting his life back together a little bit?

Jake: NO [laughs]! Not yet. Maybe somewhere along this season, but he's not putting it together just yet.

POTP: Do you think that Nick knows that he has a crush on Jess?

Jake: I think he does actually. I think he deep down knows it but he's nowhere near ready to admit it. But we really do. This next episode coming up is an interesting one for them because they start discussing all this stuff and it's the first time that they do it.

POTP: And are they sober when they're discussing this?

Jake: This time yes, they're sober [laughs].

POTP: New Girl keeps bringing on all these guest stars. Is there anybody that you'd love to see on the show?

Jake: I'd love to see Jonah Hill a few times and he's as funny as it gets. I'd love to see Bill Murray on the show, that'd be pretty awesome! Michael Cera…

POTP: Very nice. You already have a plan.

Jake: I already have a plan [laughs]!

Hannah Simone: New Girl’s Cece Shines on the Red Carpet

Hannah Simone plays the hot bestfriend of Zooey Deschanel‘s character on New Girl, but in real life she’s down to earth, pleasant and talkative.

Hannah fulfilled her contractual obligations by showing up to Fox’s Fall party in Los Angeles last week, but she posed for photographers, didn’t speak to the press and didn’t attend the party. I can’t hate!

Not only is there always great food served at industry parties, but with season 2 of New Girl beginning next Tuesday, she was bound to be asked the same thing by every single reporter on the carpet “So what’s in store for Cece this season on New Girl”? Hannah made the right choice! And in case you’re wondering, I know you aren’t, her gorgeous dress was made by Indian designer Naeem Khan.

New Girl: Season 2 Spoilers From Writer and Creator Liz Meriwether

Before there was Lena Dunham, there was Liz Meriwether, and before Liz Meriwether, there was Diablo Cody and before Diablo Cody there was dot dot dot. Liz is the creator and scriptwriter for Fox's new hit show New Girl. She also penned the movie No Strings Attached.

The show was heavily promoted and it quickly paid off. Zooey Deschanel was nominated for a Golden Globe award, and now she and her co-star Max Greenfield are both up for Emmys.

Season 1 ended in a few cliffhangers; Nick moved back into the loft with Jess, Winston has a serious girlfriend, and Cece and Schmidt called it quits. Fans of the show want to see Cece and Schmidt together and fans want Jess and Nick to hook up already! Here's what Elizabeth had to say about where season 2, which premieres on September 25, is going.

Who would you like to see return as a guest star?

Liz: Cece's roommate Nadia. We just really loved her and she's so funny. I feel like she's gonna be around for a long time.

What's going to happen with Cece and Schmidt?

Liz: I think they have a lot of emotional stuff to work out before they can be in a relationship. They're two people that didn't want a relationship and ended up in one. They're not ready yet and I feel like they got to figure out a way to do it.

Are Jess and Nick going to start dating?

Liz: When they do hook up, it's gonna be hardcore sex [laughs]! A lot of online content!

 

We don't really have a show that's been planned. It's organic. We just want to really honest with the characters. It's not 'Will they or won't they?' Let's just really think about these characters, where they are, what would happen. I genuinely don't know.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Liz: The show is really from my life and a writer's life. We're always pushing new boundaries from personal stories. I think that's what we base the show on, making 'em feel like it's real and coming from a real place. Whenever we feel like the story existed just as a joke, we always had to go back and find a way to make it real.

New Girl Season 2 Poster is Out

It’s more than two months away, but Fox is already beginning to promote season 2 of New Girl. The poster below was released today, compliments of Entertainment Weekly, and features some of my favorite TV stars cramming together to share a mirror. The tagline, “New season. Same towels” works for me too considering that they’re all fighting for space in their bathroom mirror.
