Jennifer Lawrence: The Hunger Games Salary Is $500k

Jennifer Lawrence has said that it took her three days to figure out whether or not she should take on the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. The 21 year-old newcomer knew that starring in the film would “change [her] life forever.” She’s mature, responsible, and so damn talented.

Jen is happy with her decision, we hope. If not, the money could help ease any tension. The Hunger Games made $214 worldwide over the weekend. Its domestic gross of $152.5 million means a big fat bonus for the films three main stars: Jennifer, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

Jen was paid $500k to play Katniss, but she’s set to receive “escalators,” which means that she’ll pocket bonuses when the movie exceeds certain box-office thresholds, which it has already crossed. Jen is expected to make more than $1 million and “can expect greater rewards going forward.”

Yahoo Movies reports that all three of the film’s main stars’ paychecks “should grow significantly” by the time future installments Catching Fire and Mockingjay are filmed. Get it!
