In case you forgot, Zoe Saldana and Britney Spears go way back, starring together in the 2002 film Crossroads, which was about a group of teenage friends who go on a road trip and “find themselves.”
Zoe recently told Crave Online: “(Britney’s) a Southern Belle, man. Like she’s a southern girl, a southern gal. It doesn’t matter what happens in her life, or what ups and downs or whatever, that little girl is always very respectful and very pure.”
The Latina star says that she learned a lot from her former co-star, most importantly to be humble – an admirable quality since Brit was at the peak of her career at the time. However, Zoe confessed that it can be difficult to stay grounded in a place like Hollywood where everyone is kissing your butt:
“If I ever start believing my hype I feel like I will stop being an artist and become more of a celebrity. I’m not a celebrity. I am an artist. I go to work every day, I become the characters that I am hired to do”.
Luckily the actress has her family on hand to keep her feet firmly on the ground: “I feel like my family and the closest people to me are sometimes positive recipients of the effects of that, but at the end of the day I do this because I love working.”
Finally, girly Zoe admitted that dressing up is the favorite part of her job but wasn’t as keen on the promotion: “It’s fun to get dressed [up]. I love fashion. I’m a girl, so I get to really have fun with it, but by the time I’m talking about a movie and promoting it, the fun part for me is over”. I understand Zoe, now how about letting me raid your wardrobe for one of those amazing dresses?
