Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland has spoken out about her dad’s latest verbal diarrhea, after the actor allegedly called a photographer a “cock sucking fag”. Alec was seeing red after he believed the paparazzi was getting too close to his wife Hilaria and their baby, Carmen, when he used the offensive language.
Baldwin soon faced criticism for using the homophobic slur. Ireland took to Twitter to defend her hot-tempered dad.
“What my dad said was WRONG. What my dad felt WASN’T” She said in one tweet. “My dad is far from a homophobe or a racist. My dad has an INFANT CHILD to protect. All the parents out there should understand. You would do anything to protect your baby.”
Ireland is no stranger to Alec’s crazy rants herself. Back in 2007, she was on the receiving end of a particularly nasty voicemail where Alec called her a “rude, thoughtless, little pig” after she failed to call the star during the bitter custody battle between her famous parents.
It seems like Ireland has put all that behind her however, as she praised how far her father has come with his “anger management” issues:
“For someone who has battled with anger management issues, my dad has grown tremendously. It takes a lot of strength for someone to release their anger. It takes a lot of strength and SUPPORT for someone to grow and become a…..better person. We all say things we don’t mean. We all say things we can’t take back.”
Alec also issued his own official apology for the incident and is currently suspended from his show Up Late With Alec Baldwin.
“I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have – and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand ‘Up Late’ will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week.”
