Joan Jett To Front Nirvana At Rock & Roll HOF Concert?

by on Uncategorized

Joan Jett and Nirvana. Usually, they’re just a small example of an Alt rock fan’s playlist on iTunes. Tonight though…it may mean a reunion at this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony for lovers of good music of all ages to bask in.

The first sign of such a reunion came in the form of a photo yesterday on the Instagram feed of former Nirvana drummer (and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. It showed three guitars, one from bassist Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear’s Fender Stratocaster and what looks like the Melody Maker that Jett has been rocking since I was a wee little spermatozoa.

If it’s true, Grunge SQUEE! It will make for what will be I think a brilliant set. Especially if “Pennyroyal Tea” is part of the setlist.

There’s something about the chorus’ growl that, to me, would be perfect for her voice. It’d also make for a highlight to smooth over the fact KISS is also being inducted this year, which in my view is a good thing. If not, well…at least Grunge is getting its well-deserved victory lap in music history. And you’ll have more time for tonight’s Scandal finale.

Either way, treat yourself to a little binge listening of past Nirvana songs on YouTube or Spotify. Their cover of “The Man Who Sold The World” would make for a good start.

Eminem and Rihanna: The Monster Tour Coming Soon!

by on Uncategorized

You say what? Well this is a great idea! Eminem and Rihanna have similar fanbases, and whenever Marshall Mathers and Rihanna team up together, whatever project they’re working on becomes a huge success.

 Rihanna and Eminem concert

Taking their chart topping hits to the road, Rihanna and Eminem will be going on “The Monster Tour” together. Slim Shady himself told XXL magazine: “It’s a three-city tour: New York, L.A., and Detroit coming in August. The Monster Tour.” The venues won’t be small. This will be a stadium tour.

NY, LA and Detroit sounds so random, but you gotta love Eminem for making his hometown a priority. Rihanna Tweeted: “OH IM THERE!!!!!”

Em and Rihanna’s latest collab, “The Monster,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 2013. The pair previously had a No. 1 hit together with “Love The Way You Lie,” which spent seven weeks at the top in 2010.

I haven’t been to an Eminem or a Rihanna concert. I would love to find out what the setlist will be. I hope the three dates do so well that they decide to add more cities. I’ll post details as they’re released.

Lea Michele: ‘You’re Mine’ Song is a Cory Monteith Tribute

by on Uncategorized

On Monday, Lea Michele released her latest song, “You’re Mine,” from her upcoming album, Louder. This ultra emotional song is a dedication to her late boyfriend Cory Monteith, who passed away last July from an overdose. Lea took to Twitter, to share how special the song was to her.

“My next IG track ‪#YOUREMINE (available tomorrow)is my favorite song on ‪#LOUDER. It’s so special to me & it’s story is so close to my heart.”

In November, Lea also shared with Elle of “You’re Mine”: “It makes me so happy, this song. It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think of him, I play this.”

In the song, Lea belts out about the first time the couple exchanged those three precious words. “You’re Mine” is truly an emotional and beautiful song. I think it’s a lovely tribute that will just break your heart. It’s just amazing how strong she has been sense the passing of Cory. I really hope her first solo album does well because she is very talented.

“You’re Mine” is available today on itunes, along with Cannonball, Battlefield, and Louder. The full album, “Louder” will drop on March 4th. Lea also has a new book coming out May 13, “Burnette Ambition,” that she describes as, “part memoir, part how-to, and part style guide.” You can preorder it here.

Miley Cyrus Unplugged Video With Madonna

by on Uncategorized

Miley Cyrus ended her MTV Unplugged special on a high note last night. The controversial singer performed a mashup of Madonna’s “Don’t Tell Me” and Miles’ “We Can’t Stop.” I think the songs sound perfect together and I love the simple, choreographed moves! This performance was so fun. My only criticism is that Miles thinks that she has to act like she’s in a rap video every time she performs with someone else. You don’t always have to be grinding up on everything or putting your back into it! This should be released as a single. I like this mashup more than the original versions of both songs.

Miley Cyrus and Madonna Stick Tongues Out, Perform Together on ‘Unplugged’

by on Uncategorized

Madonna acts like a teenager, she dates young boys, and Miley Cyrus acts like an idiot. Put these two attention loving twats together and you’re going to get pictures like the ones below. Who lied to Miles? Who told that b!tch anyone wants to see her tongue and tonsils?

Miley Cyrus 2014, Madonna Miley Cyrus Unplugged duet

Cyrus will be doing a Miley Cyrus Unplugged special, which airs tonight on MTV, and she was joined by Madonna for two performances! Miley and Madge performed Madonna’s “Don’t Tell Me” and Miley’s “We Can’t Stop” together.

Both singers posted these pics on their Instagram accounts.

Madonna posted: “M &M ! Don”t ever Tell us We Can’t STOP! #revolutionoflove” Miley said: “ITS WE WHO BOUT THAT LIFE! ❤❤❤❤❤”

E! Online reports that “Miley even playfully slapping Madonna’s bum a few times during the two takes.” Miley told the audience: “That was pretty f–king cool, you guys. It sounds super-lame, but as a pop star it’s pretty cool performing with Madonna…Today was one of those days that it was really easy to get out of bed.”

The Unplugged specials, along with Vh1’s Storytellers, are the best! I’ll be checking out Miles’ episode one of the 4,000 times it airs on MTV for sure.

Britney Spears’ Las Vegas Residency Debut: Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Adam Lambert and More Attend

by on Uncategorized

Britney Spears’ career has certainly been a rollercoaster ride. First, there was the teenage Britney years where she pretended to be all virginal and totally not banging Justin Timberlake.

Then came the badass Britney years when she shaved her head and tried to smash a photographer’s car with an umbrella. Now it seems we have entered into the latest era – the Las Vegas showgirl Brit Brit.

The singer opened her new Las Vegas show “Piece of Me,” and from the rave reviews it seems that this might just be the best Britney yet. The iconic star didn’t disappoint fans at the packed Planet Hollywood resort in Vegas, giving an energetic performance that included pyrotechnics, acrobatics and frequent costume changes.

She belted out 24 of her hits including “Womanizer,” “3” and “Me Against the Music.” Making sure to include some of her old school classics like “Baby One More Time,” “Everytime,” “Oops!…I Did It Again.” She even managed to squeeze in a few songs from her latest album, Britney Jean – “Work Bitch” and “Perfume.”

Britney was looking in good shape and the outfits for the show were in the obligatory sexy/ slutty style that it seems all female performers are contractually obliged to include in their shows.

One thing I do like about Britney is that she always seems to work writhing half-naked men into her act for no real reason. Some critics disapproved of the singer lip-syncing, but as USA Today points out, it’s pretty hard to do all that dancing while actually singing:

“With a performance this heavily focused on athleticism, asking a singer to deliver pitch- perfect vocals with no digital assistance is a bit like asking an NFL running back to run for 10 yards while carrying a tune – all game long.” Besides, Britney isn’t exactly known for her amazing voice, so I thought it was best she stuck to what she was good at.

The Piece of Me concert attracted a whole heap of celebrities including Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Adam Lambert and Selena Gomez. Miley was so excited to be at the show she tweeted a picture of herself at the concert along with the caption: “If you told me I’d be front row & center on @britneyspears opening night 10 years ago I would’ve never believed you.”

During the show, Britney asked for a “hottie” to be brought on stage, at that point her backup dancers grabbed Mario Lopez from the crowd. Mario was forced to crawl on the crowd while Spears pulled him with a leash. “I didn’t expect that,” Lopez told Extra afterward. Wow…Mario Lopez on all fours, that’s it, I’m booking my ticket now…
